In fenced compound at the junction of Coppings Road & Compasses Road. There is a disused telegraph pole at the junction..

LOCKED Externally all surface features remain intact and in
good condition having been repaired and repainted. The shaft top has been altered and the hatch replaced with a modern copy with non-original locking bars following several break-ins.

The post was flooded to a depth of 3ft - as in the pictures below from Nick Catford's survey in 1997 - until 2002 when it was bought by Sub Brit member, John Smiles. He pumped out the post and restored it as a private museum.Below ground the post is now in good condition but, between open days, it is completely stripped out and only furniture remains.

John is happy to open up the post for visits by appointment and it is fully equipped once or twice a year for open days. Contact him on smileysquadATgooglemail.com

Two rectangular buildings stand in the field on the opposite side of Coppings Road. These were used for ammunition storage during WW2 for the anti aircraft battery that was located in the same field. The battery served an emergency landing strip in the adjacent field which was latterly a Lysander base. There are also two underground air raid shelters in the vacinity.

Opened in 1965 and closed in 1991.
